About Montessori Children’s Center

Montessori Children’s Center (MCC) is a family owned and operated cluster of Montessori centers, situated across the Northern Virginia metropolitan area. Specifically, the centers are located in Herndon, VA and Centreville, VA.

Established more than thirty years ago, MCC has grown into Washington Metro area’s leading early childhood educator. MCC has constantly insisted on taking a holistic approach to delivering hands on pre-school education. To this end, MCC constructs its schools from the ground up, designing our campuses and facilities to meet the needs of our curriculum and students – not the other way around.

Certified Teachers

MCC is uninhibited in its hiring, bringing on ONLY the most talented and proven faculty – career educators. Our curriculum itself is true Montessori in practice – not simply the name. The result is an unprecedented environment for students to grow and excel. Decade after decade, thousands of families have joined and graduated from the MCC Family.

Experience your children's potential, thanks to MCC's commitment to make it a reality.

Teaching, Philosophy and Curriculum

Originally developed by Dr. Maria Montessori over one hundred years ago, the Montessori approach to educating has proven revolutionary. The method of instruction breaks with traditional approaches in numerous significant ways.

Teachers Approach: For conceptual purposes, it is helpful to think of teachers as conductors of an intricate orchestra of students and young minds, rather than drill sergeants of unruly young children.

Your child is the center of the focus: Teachers guide their students through a prepared environment, which is the classroom, among lessons and activities which both tease a child’s interest or curiosity and are skill/development appropriate for each child.

Goal: is to identify child’s interest or curiosity and focus on skill development appropriate.

In approaching students in this manner, children are working on lessons and activities which interest them. As a result, they are learning exponentially quicker, earlier, and more efficiently than by traditional methods.

The Montessori method essentially divides the curriculum into five or more focused genres; math, language, science, practical life, and sensorial. MCC classrooms are equipped with a series of lessons, from each of the five genres, in varying complexity. Students, with one-on-one attention from MCC faculty, work through the various lessons of their interest, at their individual pace.

Children may elect to work on all five genres in one day, or simply stick to one. Children are provided the choice and independence to make these types of decisions for themselves. MCC classrooms follow the Montessori method, and tailor it further to the varying ages and readiness of our students.

At MCC, our general objectives of the program at all levels are to; Nurture self-confidence, independence, concentration, coordination, a sense of order, and an awareness of self, community, and the world.

Encourage and direct the natural desire to learn, choose and solve.
